EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
Pickaway County Public Health is seeking a Health Commissioner with our health department. This is a full-time position.
Description: The individual seeking this position should have a desire to work in public health in a quaint rural community that is the home of the “Pumpkin Show.” This person will be in charge of maintaining the strong collaborative effort with the whole community, leading our agency with good communication skills and great people skills. Must be detailed oriented and must be able to assess public health needs of our community. Must also be willing to work off hours as needed.
Minimum Qualifications and Characteristics:
- Per the Ohio Revised Code 3709.11, the person appointed as commissioner shall be a licensed physician, licensed dentist, a licensed veterinarian, licensed podiatrist, licensed chiropractor, or the holder of a master's degree in public health or an equivalent master's degree in a related health field as determined by the members of the board of health in a general health district.
- Seven (7) years of professional public health experience including a minimum of four (4) years of administration or supervisory experience in government public health is required.
- Previous experience as a Director of Nursing or Environmental Health Director of an Ohio-based health department also preferred.
Licensure or Certification Requirements:
- Must have a valid State of Ohio driver license and remain insurable in accordance with the agency’s insurance policy.
Salary: Salary based on experience.
