Certified Plumbing Inspector – Clinton County Health District (PostED 05/12/2023) Resumes will be accepted until the position is filled.
Full-Time position available, 32-35 hours/week. Salary range $23-$25 per hour; contingent on qualifications and negotiable based on previous experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Current State of Ohio Plumbing Inspector and Plumbing Plans Examiner Credentials; or the ability to obtain credentialling and active status through Ohio Department of Commerce Building of Board Standards. Interim Plumbing Inspector Certification includes having at least 7 years of experience in the installation of plumbing subject to inspection under a code adopted for buildings, within the scope of groups regulated by the rules of the Board. Interim Plumbing Plans Examiner Certification includes having 10 years of experience as journeyman plumber or equivalent installing plumbing systems under the scope of building codes and groups regulated by the Board. In addition, successfully completing examinations. A valid Ohio driver’s license with ongoing proof of auto insurance.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and ability to learn agency software programs and office equipment. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Skills to conduct routine and complex inspections. Skills to communicate effectively in written and oral form. Ability to prepare and document meaningful, concise, and accurate reports.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide a variety of plumbing services within Clinton County and neighboring communities (Fayette, Highland and Ross) including-
- Inspections and consultations on residential and commercial plumbing systems in accordance with the Ohio Plumbing Code.
- Conducts plan reviews and authorizes issuance of permits.
- Resolve plumbing related complaints from the general public and contractors.
- Works in accordance with established policies, procedures, applicable statutes and regulations of the Ohio Revised and Administrative Codes, as well as Ohio Board of Building Standards, Ohio Department of Health, Ohio Department of Agriculture, and others as required.
- Provide education on plumbing topics to the general public and contractors.
- Assist staff in activities or plumbing issues in environmental health programs as requested.
- Dedication to a culture of continuous quality improvement.
- Participate as requested in the event of a public health emergency.
- Ensures agency mission, vision, and programmatic success.
- Other duties/projects as requested by the environmental health director.
