Position: Maternal Child Health Supervisor

Assignment Location:  635 N. Erie St. Toledo, OH 

Basic Qualifications

Position Summary:

This supervisory position is responsible for the management and oversight of the Health Department's maternal and child health programs and infant mortality reduction initiatives. Responsibilities include the oversight of maternal and child health programs and infant mortality reduction initiatives, program planning, ensuring program deliverables are being met, assisting in the development and enforcement of agency policies, procedures, and services as well as pursuing grant opportunities. This position serves as the Healthy Start project director and co-lead for the Getting to 1 coalition. The position reports to the Director of Health Services, and serves as a vital part of the Health Services management team.

 Responsibilities:

Supervises the Maternal & Child Health programs, Tobacco Prevention staff, Healthy Start staff, Ohio Equity Institute program staff and manages and drives infant mortality reduction initiatives.

Plans, directs, trains, monitors, coordinates, and evaluates the work of subordinate staff including program coordinators, health educators, community health workers and other positions as determined by the Director of Health Services; actively participates in inter-agency meetings and community engagement activities.

Oversees the operation of maternal and child health programs and infant mortality reduction initiatives to ensure that program goals and deliverables are met; also investigates grant opportunities, writes grants, monitors activities, and completes reports.

Makes recommendations regarding policies, procedures, and services for maternal and child health and infant mortality reduction initiatives, and interprets agency policy and procedure to the community and staff.

Participates in community health assessment and community health improvement plan processes.

Plans and implements new maternal and child health programs and infant mortality reduction initiatives, using evidence-based practices or promising practices to meet community needs.

Investigates grant opportunities, writes grants, monitors activities, and completes reporting.

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

Attends both internal & external stakeholder meetings and represents the agency on appropriate panels and coalitions. Performs other duties as assigned by the Health Services Director.
