Position: Director
Pay Grade: MSC – Unclassified - Exempt
Salary: $67,340 - $76,960 yearly - Based upon education and experience
Shift Times: Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs (8:00am to 4:30pm)
Friday (8:00am to 4:00pm).
May include evenings, holidays and weekends.
General Statement of Duties:
- Direct Richland Public Health’s education and health promotion programs.
- Assign, coordinate and evaluate work assignments in accordance with departmental and organizational policies.
- Responsible for using Quality Improvement (QI), Performance Management (PM) or Lean 6 Sigma processes and/or techniques to improve the effectiveness of the respective public health programs.
- Community Health Assessment and Community Health Improvement Plan.
- Present and coordinate presentations to community groups and agencies concerning Richland Public Health’s various programs.
- Lead and coordinate Richland Public Health’s Accreditation Process.
- Work collaboratively with other community organizations.
- Project Management experience, preferred.
- Promote community resources and systems. Facilitate coalitions and work groups.
- Grant management.
- Coordinate, evaluate and report on each grant’s objectives.
- Work with the Health Commissioner and other directors on special projects.
- Serve as Richland Public Health’s (PIO) Public Information Officer.
- Prepare annual department budget and monitor department expenses.
- Conduct studies and compile information useful in making decisions about health education needs in the community.
- Proficiency in the principles of mentoring, peer advising and coaching for public health workforce development.
- Responsible for professional development of assigned staff through continuing education, and training, ensuring mandatory certifications/credentials are maintained.
- Maintain working knowledge of all programs and services available through Richland Public Health.
- Public health emergency response duties as assigned and consistent with job classification and training provided.
- Ability to effectively plan and manage ongoing health education and promotion programs and staff.
- Ability to work effectively with people of all social, economic, and educational levels.
Required education, experience, and training:
- Accredited college or university graduate with a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in health education, community health, health promotion, public administration, journalism or related field.
- Certified Health Educator Specialist (CHES) eligibility, preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years experience in public health education, community health or related field.
- Minimum two (2) years supervisory experience.
- Minimum two (2) years grant administration experience, preferred.
- PHAB experience, preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Radio, television and telephone interviewing skills and related media experience, preferred.
- Computer skills including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google mail.
- Knowledge of the core functions and essential services of public health.
- Must possess and maintain a current and valid Ohio Driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
