NOW HIRING: Fiscal Specialist

Grant-funded position 

Under the direction of the Director, this position a variety of fiscal duties and operations, including accounts payable and receivable duties, maintaining department records, compiling information for Director to present to the Board of Health, and other related duties. The Fiscal Specialist focuses on providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of Franklin County Public Health.

Duties Include:

  • This role updates and monitors accounts payable and receivable, and processes approved invoices, vouchers, and other related materials.
  • Verifies receipt of goods & services, working closely with vendors to obtain quotes and resolve billing discrepancies. Reviews submitted documentation for accuracy and completeness in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • This role aids staff in planning travel and expenses for reimbursement properly and through fiscally responsible methods of cost saving. Monitors agency-wide invoices (such as cell phones) for reconciliation according to approved financial practices.
  • This position interacts with the public in person, by phone and by email; they will respond to questions and requests for information or public records, answer incoming calls. Receive and receipt payments from customers. Utilizes appropriate methods for interacting effectively and professionally with persons of all ages and from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, lifestyles and physical abilities.
  • This role provides administrative and clerical support including mailing, scanning, faxing and copying. Open, sort and distribute incoming correspondence, as well as create letters, notices and mass mailings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent, Associate degree preferred.
  • Two (2) years of government accounting or related financial responsibilities required.
  • Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail and accuracy, customer service skills with the ability to learn new information quickly.
  • Technical proficiency needed with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), databases, accounting systems.

Hiring Wage Range: $22.30 - $25.64/hour. This is a non-exempt position.
