REHS or EHSIT / Public Health Accreditation Coordinator (contract)
The state of Ohio requires all local health departments within the state to be nationally accredited by the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) by 2025. The Galion City Health Department has completed the initial stages of this process. We are now seeking a qualified Registered Environmental Health Specialist or EHS In-Training to learn about Public Health Accreditation Coordinator duties. This position will be a contract position for approximately 16-20 hours per week at $30/hour for approximately 22 weeks. The Galion City Health Department intends to apply and secure the extended WFD Grant through June 30, 2027 and make this a full time position with salary/benefits to be determined.
Position Summary:
The contractor will work with the Director of Environmental Health to perform inspections of licensed facilities in environmental health, particularly food inspections. The contractor will spend a portion of the allotted time learning about national Public Health Accreditation requirements and the domains and measures that GCHD needs to work toward to improve.

Minimal Qualifications:
- Must be a Registered Environmental Health Specialist or In-Training and have a valid Ohio Driver’s license.
- Must be dependable, organized, possess excellent communication skills, and able to work independently.
- Must be proficient Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
