General Announcement:
The Medina County Health Department, a nationally accredited health department, has a full-time career opportunity for a Registered Dietitian. The Registered Dietitian will perform a variety of nutrition related functions, including, nutrition counseling, determining nutrition eligibility for Women, Infant and Children (WIC) benefits, and providing breastfeeding education and support. Some weekend and evenings required.
General Qualifications (including but not limited to):
Bachelor degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, certification as a Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian eligible with examination pending in six months or less, and current licensure with the Ohio Board of Dietetics are required.
Essential Functions of the Position include but are not limited to:
- Ability to carry out detailed, and sometimes involved, written or oral instructions.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Provide social service and medical referrals.
- Ability to develop nutrition education materials and presentations for nutrition education classes.
- Demonstrate respect for the unique needs and values of participants and their rights to privacy and confidentiality.
- Provide nutrition counseling based on assessment of information obtained and within WIC Policy and Procedure.
- Promote breastfeeding, provide breastfeeding education, and refers participants for additional breastfeeding assistance as needed.
- Complete all required charting/documentation in a timely and legible manner.
- Promote vaccines per CDC recommendations and guidelines.
