Public Health Nurse

The Coshocton County Health Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Public Health Nurse.  This may be a part-time or a full time position up to for 30 hours per week. 

Position Summary

Performs comprehensive public health clinical nursing services. Assignments will include variety of programs including but not limited to reproductive health, infectious disease, prenatal, child health, lead, immunizations, BCMH, and COVID response. Monitor communicable disease, gather information; research public and confidential medical records. Analyze, prepare, maintain, and edit written reports on disease incidence, surveillance systems, and investigations. Works as a part of a multidisciplinary team in the clinical setting. Provides health education to individuals and families and makes referrals to other health or social service agencies. Responsible for clinic preparation and follow-up with individuals and families. Maintains clinical records and detailed documentation. Will travel to and from clinic locations as necessary. Assists the nursing administration in the planning and development of nursing programs according to needs of the community. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing and/or Health Commissioner.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A valid Registered Nursing license issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
  • A valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator’s license/insurance
  • Basic computer literacy (email, internet, MS Office Suite)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of public health
  • Knowledge of communicable diseases
  • Experience in community health and/or health education
  • Knowledge of childhood and adult immunization recommendations/requirements

Pay & Benefits

  • Salary range for this position is $18-$20/hour, commensurate with experience
