Public Health Nurse
The Galion City Board of Health is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Public Health Nurse. This is a PRN position with the possibility of transitioning to a 24 hour per week part-time position in 3-5 months. This position will have 24 hours per week of training for the first 6 weeks. We are looking for a member to add to our team who is passionate for public health. This nurse will assist with school nursing, immunizations, and other needed public health nurse duties. primarily be in the schools during the school year. Hours will be as needed during the summer months. Hours are from 8-4 Monday-Friday with occasional evenings for activities such as, but not limited to, outreach, meetings, and trainings.
Position Summary
Under general direction, the public health nurse will provide professional nursing services to the community in a variety of settings. Assigned programs may include but are not limited to: School Nursing, Immunization Clinics, BCMH (Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps), communicable disease reporting, community outreach and health education
Minimum Qualifications
- A valid nursing license issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing (LPN or RN)
- A valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator’s license/insurance
- A valid CPR card
- Basic computer literacy (email, internet, MS Office Suite)
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of public health
- Basic knowledge of school health/school nursing
- Knowledge of communicable diseases
- Experience in community health and/or health education
- Knowledge of childhood and adult immunization recommendations/requirements

- Salary range for this position is $15-$27/hour, commensurate with experience
