NOW HIRING: Epidemiologist II
- The Epidemiologist II for planning and assessment will identify public health problems pertinent to the population and use critical thinking to determine whether a public health problem exists, articulate the need for further investigation or other public health action on the basis of results of literature review and assessment of current data. They will collaborate with others inside and outside the agency to identify the problem and form recommendations.
Duties Include:
- Performs interdisciplinary research and analysis on population health conditions;
- Analyzes data from an epidemiologic investigation, study or other sources. Summarizes results of the analysis and draw conclusions;
- With general direction and guidance, assists with the development and ongoing maintenance of a comprehensive community health assessment (CHA) and community health improvement plan (CHIP);
- Collects and analyzes data for departmental strategic planning, for measuring compliance with performance standards and for program evaluation;
- Collaborates with programs to direct the study of public health problems to find ways to prevent and to treat the problems via the collection and analysis of data including using observations, interviews, and surveys of health problems, health disparities and the social determinants of health;
- Evaluates programs, to assists in development of measurable and program-relevant goals and objectives. Assists in development of program logic models and theories of action;
- Executes ArcGIS apps and creates maps for visualization of data geographically;
- Assists in managing departmental GIS activities.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- A master’s degree with a focus in epidemiology and more than 2 years’ work experience in epidemiology in a public health agency OR
- A doctoral-level degree in epidemiology OR
- Non-epidemiology graduate degree with specific epidemiology training
- Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS software in mapping and spatial analysis of data
Salary: $25.60/hour to $32.00/hour. This is a non-exempt position.
