Environmental Health Program Coordinator

Union County Health Department

Part-Time, Classified, Hourly, Non-Exempt.  20 – 25 hours per week, Monday – Friday.  The pay range for this position is $14.29 - $18.91 per hour, based on experience.  Funding for this position is provided by the Operation & Maintenance program.

Coordinate the permit application and assessment implementation for the Operation & Maintenance (O&M) program. Design, coordinate, and evaluate the program; monitor program compliance; and recommend changes. Design and develop promotional materials and messages. Coordinate the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) Water Pollution Control Loan Fund program. Work with Sanitarians to identify properties for consideration and eligibility.  Coordinate with homeowners and installers to complete the work according to guidelines. Conduct financial and programmatic tracking and reporting. Monitor the program for compliance. Compile data and prepare and present reports on the status of the project. Review, apply for, coordinate, and meet deliverables of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) Mosquito Control Grant. Create a plan, setup surveillance sites, oversee surveillance interns, manage the grant budget and invoices, and coordinate with the contractor. Maintain a professional relationship with homeowners, contractors, and other governmental officials. Assist with the development of and maintain the agency’s Geographic Information System (GIS). Run maps, perform data entry, and produce program reports; train Sanitarians on how to properly collect data for input; and work with the Epidemiologists on disease monitoring and review. Perform data entry and scan and save documents to software systems and agency server. Prepare documents and maintain accurate records. Update records to ensure accuracy and completeness. Ensure Divisional records are maintained in accordance with applicable privacy laws, policies, and procedures. Participate in policy development for the Division. 

Must be organized, possess strong oral and written communication skills, excellent time management skills, and strong customer service skills.  A strong attention to detail and deadlines, ability to multi-task in a busy setting, and perform data entry with a high level of accuracy necessary.  Proficiency using computers and computer software, and ability to quickly learn computer software required.  Associates degree and two to three years of experience; or three to seven years of direct experienced; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience required.  Ability to lift, carry, push, and move objects, equipment, files and/or packages weighing up to 20 pounds unassisted and up to 50 pounds with assistance necessary.  Previous experience in a secretarial or office manager position and experience working in public sector or public health preferred.  Experience with Geographic Information Systems beneficial.
