Epidemiologist

Position: Epidemiologist posted 8.25.20 starting at $22.27/hr
This Tier 2 epidemiologist position is responsible for carrying out a broad and complex range of investigative and analytical epidemiologic activities related to the social determinants of health, conducting reviews of available data and literature to inform program planning, and analytical epidemiologic activities related to the surveillance, detection, and prevention of diseases and injuries. This level of epidemiologic work includes developing and designing methods of
collecting, analyzing, and disseminating data and requires understanding of chronic & acute conditions, social factors & injuries impacting health.
Basic Qualifications:
A Master’s degree focusing in epidemiology and ≥ 2 years’ work experience in epidemiology at a public health agency OR Other non-epidemiology graduate degree or certification (e.g., RN, MD/DO, DDS/DMD, DVM, PhD, RS) with specific epidemiology training (e.g., MPH degree, CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service or CSTE Applied Epidemiology Fellowship) OR At least 4 years’ experience performing epidemiologic work under the guidance of a Tier 3 Epi
Must be familiar with MS Office and statistical software packages
Must complete ICS 120a within probationary period or submit proof of completion
Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications:
A doctoral-level degree in epidemiology
Responsibilities:
- Conduct Literature reviews to inform infant mortality efforts
- Conduct economic (including cost benefit) ROI analyses of infant mortality interventions
- Performing small area analyses with support from ODH
- Submit timely local data to ODSS
- Tracking and reporting outcomes in ODSS and as otherwise prescribed by ODH
- Translating analytic findings from infant mortality interventions (e.g. data collection and analysis for ODSS database, data collection and analysis for upstream and downstream interventions, etc.)
- Performing qualitative or mixed-methods analyses of infant mortality causes
- Conducting on-going Perinatal Periods of Risk Analyses (PPOR)
- Conducting Fetal Infant Mortality Review (FIMR)
- Respond to ODH local capacity assessment survey
Other Duties & Responsibilities: Provide current OEI logic model and evaluation as updated, perform data collection and analysis support evaluation, and other duties as assigned.
