POSITION INTRODUCTION
The Public Health Nurse utilizes nursing and public health concepts and theories to provide health promotion and disease prevention services to individuals, families, and population groups, in a variety of settings. Participates in public health programs including immunizations, communicable disease control, community education, injury prevention, health screenings and selected grant-sponsored programs. Nursing actions are directed toward the goals of prevention, assessment, risk reduction and health status improvement for individuals, families, and communities through systematic analysis of health data, health education, advocacy, and coalition building. The public health nurse II position is funded through the Board of Health and may be supported by other grants within the Ross County Health District.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- At least one year of nursing experience with strong communication skills.
- Skilled in nursing practice (e.g., vaccine administration, universal precautions, HIPAA, and related public health nursing duties).
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a current and active State of Ohio Nursing License as a registered nurse.
- Must have a valid State of Ohio Driver’s License and remain insurable in accordance with the agency’s insurance policy. Ability to pass a BCI Background Check, and a Drug Screening.
