Ross County Health District

POSITION INTRODUCTION

Under direction of  the Environmental Health Director, the Environmental Health Technician assists with sampling, testing, controlling of vectors, reporting of observations, or other duties that do not require application of specialized knowledge and skills in environmental health science performed under the supervision of a registered sanitarian.

COVID-19 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

  • Monitors and assists in the interpretation of current public health orders and best practices.
  • Assists with receiving and responding to COVID-19 complaints regarding current public health orders ; gathers data and information necessary to determine complaint validity; interviews persons involved; analyzes findings and assists with developing recommendations on complaint validity or nuisance abatement; assists with taking further enforcement action if warranted in accordance with current public health orders and with direction provided by the Ross County Prosecutor’s office and local Law Director’s office; assists with working with local law enforcement in the issuance of legal action.

This position focuses on providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of Ross County Health District.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS and CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Completion of two (2) years of undergraduate core programs in environmental health science or related field; one (1) course or three (3) months experience in related science field; or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in science is preferred.
  • Ability to work some evenings, weekends, and possibly holidays. 

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a valid State of Ohio driver’s license and remain insurable in accordance with the agency’s insurance policy.  Ability to pass a BCI Background Check and a Drug Screening.

Salary Range: $13.84 - $19.84 Hourly

Hours: Full Time, Non-Exempt, Non-Classified, Occasional Weekend or after-hours   required.
