Director of Environmental Health

 

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Director of Environmental Health to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting regular inspections of Food Service Operations, Retail Food Establishments, Body Art Establishments, Manufactured Home Parks, Public Swimming Pools and Campground facilities to ensure compliance with Ohio Revised Codes. 

 

Duties

∙ Manages Environmental Health section and supervises section personnel. 

∙ Implement, and maintain environmental policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal laws. 

∙ Review plans for new facilities, issue licenses and permits. 

∙ Follow-up on complaints and animal bites. 

∙ Prepare detailed monthly reports. 

∙ Collaborate with various departments and community partners to promote environmental awareness.

∙ Participates in the Department's emergency preparedness drills and responses to real-time emergencies, as required. 

∙ Respond to environmental incidents or emergencies, providing guidance on containment and remediation efforts. 

∙ Stay updated on changes in environmental regulations and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance. 

 

Qualifications 

∙ Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, public health or related field from an accredited college with a minimum of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in math and the sciences. 

∙ Must be a registered environmental health specialist (REHS) licensed in the State of Ohio pursuant to O.R.C. Section 4736.11.

∙ Certification in CPR and First Aid is a plus. 

∙ Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to train others effectively. 

∙ Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in evaluating compliance issues. 

∙ Job duties include office and field work, in-state travel is required, other duties and trainings as required by the Marietta/Belpre Board of Health, Health Commissioner, and/or Administrator. 

∙ Employee must have a valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle

Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Occasional weekend or evening work may be required.
