POSITION
WIC Clerk- Full Time- 35 Hours per week
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Under general supervision, the WIC clerk will assist in clinic operations and help process applicants and participants through WIC eligibility and WIC Nutrition Card (WNC) processes. Assists with the WIC application, including determining participant income eligibility, category and residency status, and orienting the participant to the WIC program. Provides quality customer service, and possesses basic office skills, including working with computer systems. Works with data reports and maintains records. Functions as part of the breastfeeding support team. Participates in community outreach activities and informs participants and the public as to resources available within the county and/or the community depending upon the client’s needs. May be responsible for using quality improvement (QI) and performance management (PM) processes and/or techniques to improve the effectiveness of the respective public health program including, but not limited to: Creating, implementing, and evaluation performance standards; Identifying, implementing, and assessing program QI processes; Assists with other duties, as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualified employee shall possess the following: Must have at least a high school diploma or GED; Two years of experience in an office environment preferred; Customer service skills; Must be detail oriented; Must possess good verbal and written communication skills; Ability to evaluate situations and make good independent decisions; understanding of office equipment, including computers, with a knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint; Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle; Current auto insurance; Maintains information in strict confidentiality.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The WIC Clerk position requires an employee to: Travel to off-site locations; Work a general schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., although a flexible schedule may be required, including evening, weekends, and holidays; Respond to emergency calls; Come into contact with secondhand smoke, communicable diseases, blood, bodily fluids, allergens, dusts, cleaning supplies; Lift, climb, bend twist, kneel, squat; Sit, stand , stoop, and/or walk; Manipulate a keyboard and other technology; Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
COMPENSATION: WIC Clerk- $12.76-$17.80 per hour; pay commensurate with experience
