Delaware Public Health District
The Delaware Public Health District seeks a full-time Epidemiologist 2 or 3 to perform duties related to infectious disease investigation in the Preventative Health Division. This position conducts epidemiologic investigations used in the prevention and control of communicable diseases. Investigations are designed to identify, analyze, and report public health issues and problems, resulting in improved monitoring of health status and its correlates.
This position Identifies trends or outbreaks of diseases and/or other adverse health events. It provisions data and information about corrective actions or programs to alleviate adverse health effects, and the proposal of practices or policies based on such data and information that will promote and protect public health.
Requirements:
Epidemiologist 2 – Master's degree in epidemiology, biostatics, public health, or related field required. One to three years’ relevant experience required. Local Public Health experience in Infectious Disease required. Driver’s license and auto liability insurance required. Pay grade begins at $28.55/hour commensurate with experience.
Epidemiologist 3 – Master's degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health or related field required. Three to five years’ relevant experience required. Local Public Health experience in Infectious Disease required. Driver’s license and auto liability insurance required. Pay grade begins at $33.05/hour commensurate with experience.
Ideal candidates will have the following key skills:
- Strong Analytical/ Assessment Adeptness (i.e. Interprets quantitative and qualitative data, uses information technology in accessing, collecting, analyzing, using, maintaining, and disseminating data and information).
- Analyzes the comparability of data (e.g., data being age-adjusted to the same year, data variables across datasets having similar definitions)
- Strong Communication Skills, both written and oral
- Strong infectious disease knowledge and investigation skills
