Plumbing Inspector I $50,435 - $57,000

Plumbing Inspector II $55,478 - $62,000

(Commensurate with certifications and years of experience as an inspector)

Plumbing Inspector I/Plumbing Inspector Trainee Job Duties: Conducts routine field plumbing inspections of residential and commercial plumbing installations to enforce plumbing codes uniformly; reviews and approves plans, drawings, and specifications of plumbing installation; authorizes issuance of permits; surveys for backflow and cross-connections; inspects public sewer and public water installations. Plumbing Inspector Trainee works under guidance from a licensed Plumbing Inspector.

Plumbing Inspector II Job Duties: All duties of Plumbing Inspector I/Plumbing Inspector In-Training. In addition, conducts more complex plumbing inspections; conducts medical gas pressure piping inspections; investigates plumbing complaints; coordinates plan review and permit approval with other divisions and county offices; participates in activities to ensure and maintain accreditation status; actively participates in Quality Improvement Projects.

Plumbing Inspector Trainee Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; seven (3) years practical plumbing experience in non-residential plumbing, or any combination of equivalent education, training, and/or experience; eligible for certification by the State of Ohio Department of Commerce as a Plumbing Inspector Trainee. Must certify with the Department of Commerce within six months of hire. Backflow tester certification and/or Med Gas 6020 is welcomed.

Plumbing Inspector I Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; seven (7) years practical plumbing experience in non-residential plumbing, or any combination of equivalent education, training, and/or experience; eligible for certification by the State of Ohio Department of Commerce as a Plumbing Inspector. Must certify with the Department of Commerce within six months of hire. Backflow tester certification and/or Med Gas 6020 is welcomed.

Plumbing Inspector II Minimum Qualifications: All qualifications of Plumbing Inspector I with prior experience as a commercial and residential plumbing inspector in the State of Ohio or equivalent experience. Backflow tester certification and/or Med Gas 6020 is required within six months of hire.
