NOW HIRING: Communication Specialist
The Communication Specialist plans, organizes and implements communication, marketing and media relations activities for the department to assure a comprehensive approach to promote and raise awareness about the programs and services provided by Franklin County Public Health. The Communication Specialist focuses on providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of Franklin County Public Health.
Duties include:
- Write and proof material for press releases, presentations, legislative materials, talking points, marketing materials, web copy and internal communications.
- Schedule and conduct media interviews and appearances.
- Coordinate social media efforts for FCPH programs and initiatives, including updates and responses.
- Serve as PIO (or Lead PIO) for public health emergencies and other situations as designated.
Requirements:
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism or a related field.
- One to three (1-3) years of experience required and technical proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Wordpress, etc.
- Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail and accuracy, customer service skills, ability to learn new information quickly.
- Willing to work occasional overtime, some weekend work could be required but not typical.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, and be insurable through FCPH’s provider.
- Non-smoker.
Salary Range: $23.28/hour - $29.11/hour. This is a non-exempt position.
