Environmental Health Technician
The Holmes County General Health District is actively seeking a qualified candidate for the full-time position of Environmental Health Technician. Under the general supervision of the Environmental Health Director, the candidate chosen for this position will support the division and agency by the following duties, including but not limited to:
- Conducting inspections and data management for the operation and maintenance component of the household sewage program
- Surveillance and investigation activities for the vector and rabies control programs
- Assisting with clerical support and data modernization efforts, including but not limited to GIS activities and records management.
- Assisting with environmental health education initiatives
Essential Duties May Include:
- Plans, schedules, and conducts inspections of existing household sewage treatment systems enrolled in the Operation and Maintenance program.
- Develops protocols and procedures to maintain and advance the household sewage Operation and Maintenance program
- Under supervision of the Environmental Health Director, consults with contractors and the general public regarding code violations, options to remedy violations, potential enforcement measures and providing education regarding the Operation and Maintenance program.
- Vector control/surveillance and animal bite complaint investigations.
- Assistance with administrative support and data management/modernization activities.
- Prepares and maintains inspection reports and all supporting documentation.
- Participates in community events and social media initiatives for environmental health education
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
- Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responds to public health emergencies as directed by the Board and the Health Commissioner.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualified candidates must possess:
A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required; Associates Degree preferred; a valid Ohio driver's license; and proof of insurance. All applicants must be computer literate and able to effectively communicate orally and in writing, bi-lingual (Spanish or Penn Dutch) is a plus.
