Clinical Supervisor
Toledo-Lucas County Health Department
Position: Clinical Supervisor
Assignment Location: 635 N. Erie St. Toledo, OH
Minimum Qualifications:
- An associate degree in nursing, healthcare management, business, or a related degree with 5 years’ experience in office management and/or working in an ambulatory environment OR a bachelor’s degree in nursing, healthcare management, business, or a related degree with 3 years’ experience in office management and/or working in an ambulatory clinic environment.
- 2 years of experience implementing health care improvement processes and flow.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and computer skills.
- Must have and maintain throughout employment a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and be insurable under the Lucas County Commissioners Risk Management.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training and developing employees; performs personnel functions such as preparing performance appraisals, approving leave and monitoring leave usage; meets program goals by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
- Manages daily clinic operations including clinic flow and patient experience.
- Oversees the operations of clinical and outreach programs to ensure that program goals are met.
- Assists with developing and maintaining a competent workforce by providing orientation to new staff, and promoting, coordinating, and participating in staff development activities.
- Develops schedules for clinical and outreach operations including staffing needs.
- Completes payroll and financial components including approving time, assisting with cost analysis, acting as a travel delegate, applying for and administering grants, and gathering and submitting financial reports.
- Monitors, coordinates, and evaluates the work of clinical and outreach services staff.
- Completes quality assurance checks to ensure the clinic is running optimally and safety policies and procedures are being followed. Completes compliance reporting.
- Audits lab technician work to ensure quality assurance.
- Improves the efficiency and effectiveness of the clinical and outreach services department by creating and updating policies, procedures, and work instructions for staff.
- Completes grant, Board of Health, and other reports as needed.
- Completes supply ordering as needed.
- Ensures that the pharmacy is running optimally, by ensuring medications are ordered and are properly tracked.
- Ensures that the clinical and outreach program staff participate in meaningful continuous quality improvement activities using the Plan-Do-Check-Act model and completes performance management for tracking progress to meet target benchmarks.
- Makes recommendations regarding policies, procedures, and services. Interprets agency policy and procedure to the community and staff.
- Assures accurate and appropriate documentation of care or services provided, and maintains client's and staff member's rights and confidentiality.
- Participates in inter-agency meetings and community engagement activities.
- Participates in community health assessment and community health improvement processes.
- Plans and implements new programs, using evidence-based practices to meet community needs and meet grant requirements.
- Adheres to PHAB core competencies including, but not limited to: T2: 1.6.6, 1.8.4, 2.1.5, 2.2.2, 2.2.7, 2.4.5, 2.6.2, 2.6.5, 3.2.1-3.2.4, 3.4.2, 4.1.4, 4.5.4, 5.4.6, 5.4.7, 7.2.4, 7.3.6, 7.3.8, 7.3.9, 7.4.4, 7.5.7, 7.6.3, 7.7.4, 7.8.5, 7.12.2, 8.4.2, 8.6.5, 8.8.3, and 8.8.5.
- Participates in quality improvement efforts and achieving PHAB accreditation requirements. This position will be responsible for using quality improvement (QI) processes and/or techniques to improve the effectiveness of the assigned public health program.
- Attends and participates in conferences, seminars, trainings, or related education classes as assigned.
