Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Creates and collaborates on emergency preparedness response plans with county partners in accordance with the PHEP (Public Health Emergency Preparedness) Grant.
Recruits and coordinates MRC (Medical Reserve Corps) volunteers. Provides volunteer trainings, events, newsletters, and educational materials. Maintains current and accurate record of all credentialed volunteers and training (e.g., background checks, certifications, registration, etc.) every three years.
Plans and leads Mercer County Healthcare Disaster Preparedness Coalition (MCHDPC) meetings.
Assesses public health personnel training needs for emergency preparedness and response.
Promotes, provides and maintains records of education, training, and services to community partners, organizations and Health District employees.
Participates in community activities as a representative of the agency.
Participates in planning and coordination of Tabletop, Functional and Full-Scale exercises.
Assists in the development of policies and procedures. Participates in grants as needed.
Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
Attends professional education and training sessions, seminars and workshops, as directed.
Maintains confidentiality as appropriate under the Health District policy and applicable statutes.
Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
Experience/Certifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in nursing, education, health, biological sciences, or closely related field, preferred; three (3) years of experience in community health, staff development/education or communicable disease prevention preferred.
Abilities to work with volunteers and provide excellent customer service are required.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, and PowerPoint).
Must maintain a valid State of Ohio driver’s license and good driving record. Must maintain insurability according to Mercer County policy.
May be required to travel to off-site locations. May be required to work weekend and/or evening hours as necessary. Most work is conducted in an office setting. Employees may be required to lift, climb, bend, twist, kneel, squat, stand, push/pull or lift up to 50lbs.
