NOW HIRING – Region Public Health Coordinator (Emergency Preparedness)

Grant-funded position

The Regional Public Health Coordinator (RPHC) will serve as the primary Emergency Preparedness planning resource for local public health departments in the region (ODH PHEP Region 4) and the primary point of contact with the Ohio Department of Health regarding the status of planning, response, and recovery throughout the region. The RPHC also provides representation, guidance and assistance as needed with local, regional and state planning partners for the purpose of developing and supporting local and regional partnerships and coalitions.

Duties Include:

• Under supervision, this position coordinates, plans and conducts public health related emergency preparedness and response trainings, periodic disaster drills and exercises with applicable county departments, and other government agencies, and community agencies involved in public health emergency preparedness and response as well as the general public.
• Collaborate with vendors under contract with the Ohio Department of Health’s Bureau of Health Preparedness, for the conduct of any regional and statewide initiatives.
• Provide technical assistance to the development of emergency plans with working knowledge in public health planning and response.
• Assemble and facilitate regional meetings to assure coordination and collaboration. Compile meeting minutes and maintain documentation for strategies, activities and responsibilities related to regional public health activities.
• Serve as the regional OPHCS contact and coordinator of user accounts, including user access for local health departments within the region. Ensure the regional plans correspond and integrate with other response plans and related documents.
• Expeditiously engage ODH with any questions that arise about the completion of deliverables on the local and regional level.
• Utilizes appropriate methods for interacting effectively and professionally with persons of all ages and from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, lifestyles and physical abilities.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in health or environmental sciences, emergency management, public health, or related discipline required; Master’s degree preferred.
• One (1) year of direct emergency management experience required.
• One (1) year of directly related experience in grants writing, grants management required; two to three (2-3) years strongly preferred.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license and ability to meet insurability requirements.
• Completion of the following trainings, or required to be successfully completed within 6 months of employment:
  • IS-100.C: Introduction to the Incident Command System,
  • IS-120.C: An Introduction to Exercises, IS-130.A: How to be an Exercise Evaluator,
  • IS-200.C: Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response,
  • IS-244.B: Developing and Managing Volunteers,
  • IS-700.B: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System,
  • IS-800.D: National Response Framework, an Introduction
  • United States Department of Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP).

Hiring Wage Range: $21.17/hour - $26.46/hour. This is a non-exempt position.
