PAY RANGE: Starting rate is $49.83 per hour; Commensurate with experience
WORK HOURS: Days and hours of work may vary; Nights/weekends/holidays may be required
IMMEDIATE SUPERVSOR: Pharmacist in Charge
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under the supervision of the Pharmacist in Charge, the Staff Pharmacist will safely fill and dispense medications prescribed by healthcare providers and provide information to patients about medications and their use. The Intermittent Staff Pharmacist may advise providers on the selection, dosage, interactions, and side effects of medications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Pharmacy Responsibilities
- Provides clinical oversight of the Pharmacy in the absence of the Pharmacist in Charge;
- Ensures safety and accuracy of all prescriptions dispensed;
- Performs Drug Utilization Review against drugs and chronic conditions for all prescriptions processed;
- Assists in drug and vaccine inventory management, including maintaining the integrity of the 340B drug discount program;
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local laws and regulations regarding the practice of pharmacy;
- Ensures all records and reports relating to the practice of pharmacy are accurate and maintained per State Board of Pharmacy and Drug Enforcement Agency requirements;
- Maintains confidentially of these records per HIPAA guidelines;
- Oversees the preparation, dispensing and preservation of medications in the Health Center Pharmacy and any other place within the Wood County Health Department facilities where medications may be stored;
- Assures that medications are therapeutically appropriate and advises medical, dental, and behavioral health staff regarding any beneficial changes to therapy;
- Meets with patients when requested by clinical staff or by the patient;
- Provides education to Health Department staff regarding any pharmacy programs or services;
- Keeps current with pharmacy issues and any new or proposed changes in laws or regulations that will affect public health or patient care.
Miscellaneous
- Assists agency and community in preparing for, responding to, withstanding and recovering from public health emergencies;
- Maintains the ability to drive to off-site locations, as required;
- Observes confidentiality of client and agency information;
- Complies with the policies and procedures of the Wood County Health District, including the motor vehicle and equipment policies;
- Adheres to both federal and state civil rights’ and anti-discrimination laws;
- Engages in personal career growth and development activities;
- Regular and punctual attendance;
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Two (2) years of experience working in a community pharmacy environment.
REQUIRED LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
- Valid State of Ohio Pharmacist license. License must be maintained throughout employment.
- Clear record with the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy.
- Valid Ohio driver’s license. License must be maintained throughout employment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of 304B program compliance.
- Experience with PioneerRx, or similar pharmacy software.
- Ability to provide proof of automobile insurance.
- Knowledge of public health and health center laws, regulations and standards as defined by federal, state and local governments.
- Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy requirements.
- Ability to satisfactorily pass a background check.
Final candidates must successfully pass a background check and provide proof of current automobile insurance.
An individual who poses a direct threat to the health and safety of others in the workplace will be deemed not qualified for this position.
