Position Title: Full-time Registered Environmental Health Specialist or Environmental Health Specialist-in-Training
Reports To: Director of Environmental Health
Position Status: Full-time Non-Exempt (40 hours per week, Flexible)
Pay Grade Range: Based on Experience ($21.00-$23.00 per hour)
Essential Functions (including, but not limited to):
- Performs inspections for environmental program areas.
- The REHS is a generalist in practice and will be trained in all EH program areas. Daily work assignments will be.
- Sewage treatment system design review, and inspections, regarding real estate sale program, new construction, replacement, and operation and maintenance.
- Private water system (wells) permits, inspections, and water sampling
- Campground inspections
- Nuisance complaint investigations
- Collaborates with emergency response and preparedness activities and training.
- May be required to work outside of normal business hours as needed.
- Participates in performance management and continuous quality improvement.
Minimum Qualifications/Characteristics
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree in science, biology, public health, or related science field, with enough units to be eligible for registration as an EHSIT.
- Must maintain Ohio Registered Environmental Health Specialist Licensure or have the science or math units to be eligible to become an EHSIT.
- May be required to obtain Commercial Pesticide Applicator License
- Must be flexible in working outside normal working hours.
- Valid Ohio Driver’s License, proof of insurance, and access to reliable transportation required.
- Non-Tobacco user, CCGHD has a no tobacco use policy.
- The successful candidate will need to be highly detail oriented, organized, dependable and flexible with demonstrated proficiency in computer, communications, and multi-tasking skills.
- A successful candidate will need to be a self-starter and independent worker, who values educating the customer on environmental health programs and rules and regulations. The candidate must be comfortable enforcing rules and regulations and not be intimidated by potential conflict.
