US House Reauthorizes Temporary Fentanyl Ban

The US House has passed a bill, Temporary Reauthorization and Study of the Emergency Scheduling of Fentanyl Analogues Act (S. 3201), to temporarily extend the Drug Enforcement Administration's (DEA) class-wide ban on all variants of fentanyl, a drug that has helped fuel the opioid crisis. The bill, passed by the House 320-88, was identical to a version passed by the Senate earlier this month. The bill now awaits the President's signature before the DEA's temporary powers on fentanyl analogues expire February 6.
