Director of Nursing – Full Time

Seneca County General Health District

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Directs and supervises nursing staff in order to ensure compliance with the goals, objectives and policies of the Seneca County General Health District. Responsible for overseeing the public health nursing programs and ensuring compliance with applicable grant programs; approves budget items for the nursing program; reviews budget information to ensure appropriate fiscal status; compiles information regarding potential alternate funding sources; develops, reviews and revises nursing policies and procedures related to nursing; determines the type and amount of nursing services required; participates in community activities on behalf of Seneca County General Health District.

Collaborates with other agencies regarding promoting public health matters and nursing programs; evaluates employee performance and reviews employee work hours; approves employee leave requests; participates in the hiring and promotion process of employee; makes recommendations regarding disciplinary matters; monitors professional development needs of staff; attends and participates in Board of Health meetings; public speaking to the Board of Health , agency partners, and/or the public; approves the purchase of supplies; other duties as assigned by the Health Commissioner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Director of Nursing must have knowledge of principles and practices of public health nursing health administration and evidence of administrative skills, shall possess a Registered Nursing license from the Ohio Board of Nursing with a Bachelors in Nursing preferred.

Candidates for Director of Nursing should possess a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in public health nursing with at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity and possess skill levels in the Core Competencies for Public Health Professional at the senior management level.

The DON should have an understanding of office equipment, including computers, with knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Must have a valid driver’s license with auto insurance and the ability to operate a motor vehicle on occasion, and successfully complete background check at own expense prior to employment through the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation as per Ohio S.B. 38.

Pay is commensurate with experience.
