NOW HIRING: Accounting Analyst
Grant-funded Position
Under the direction of the Director, assists in preparing financial reports and maintains the costing and accounting system. This role examines, and analyzes accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting & procedural standards. The Accounting Analyst focuses on providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of Franklin County Public Health.
Duties Include:
- The Accounting Analyst maintains an activity-based costing and accounting system for department and select programs utilizing the county financial accounting software and agency grants management software systems. Reconciles transactions with county financial software financial accounting system and agency grants management software system Assists with annual budgeting process, cash forecasting and annual audit process.
- Assists in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports. Provides training to employees of the agency in overall fiscal procedures. Prepares specific cost reports in collaboration with department heads throughout the agency.
- Assists with accounts payable, accounts receivable and purchasing functions for grant funded projects such as invoice review and invoice payment processing, agency issued invoice review and reconciliations and purchase order entry and management.
- Assists with grant management and deliverable tracking. Creates and updates complex financial information using computerized accounting system; reconciles financial information weekly. Acts as interdepartmental liaison for budget development with senior staff or designee including grant management, budget variance and related expense reconciliations, contract management data.
- Enters data, maintains databases, and creates reports. Completes research as assigned. Assists in development and distribution of program reports and data. This role adheres to ethical principles in the collection, maintenance, use, and dissemination of data and information.
- Contacts county and state auditor, county treasurer, administrators, vendors and government agencies, in order to obtain or disseminate information related to the essential position functions.
- Writes detailed, complex reports (e.g., administrative, technical, scientific, environmental, informative) concerning public health environmental. Aids with the compliance in maintenance of fiscal records retention policies. Utilizes appropriate methods for interacting effectively and professionally with persons of all ages and from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, lifestyles and physical abilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- Minimum 1-year experience in government accounting, or financial management strongly preferred.
- Minimum 1-year experience in with grants management or administration in a governmental environment required; federal grant experience preferred.
- Technical proficiency needed with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), databases, accounting systems.
- Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail and accuracy, customer service skills with the ability to learn new information quickly.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for some minimum requirements.
Hiring Wage Range: $23.09/hour – 26.56/hour. This is a non-exempt position.
