Public Health Nurse - Registered Nurse – Confinement Facilities

DESCRIPTION:  Lorain County Public Health is seeking to hire a full-time Registered Nurse to function as a public health nurse with a typical workday of Monday – Friday, 8:00 to 4:30 pm with evenings and weekends as needed. 

FUNCTION

The RN will function within the scope of nursing under the direction of the Division Director and in consultation with the Epidemiologist. Primary duties will be working with local partners and assisting with Covid-19 detection and mitigation. This position has the future ability to include nursing activities beyond the initial scope of duties.

Primary Duties

1. Conduct Covid-19 testing and evaluation on confinement facility staff, support personnel, and facility residents.
2. Provide case management for confirmed cases of Covid-19, including contact tracing, quarantine/isolation procedures, and reporting requirements.
3. Provide for the administration of vaccines, as needed.
4. Educate confinement facility staff, support personnel, and facility residents on proper sanitation and how to minimize the spread of infectious diseases.
5. Assist in the development of education/policies that address the prevention of the spread of infectious diseases.
6. Assist in the development of educational materials for E-Learning and Programming for confinement facility staff, support personnel, and facility residents.
7. Other Public Health Nurse duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with three (3) years of nursing experience preferred. Must have clear oral and written communication skills, Spanish speaking preferred. Competent in computer skills.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a licensed registered nurse pursuant to Section 4723.13 of the Revised Code. Must have a valid Ohio driver's license with ongoing proof of auto insurance and be able to travel with reliable transportation. Current CPR certification. Able to lift up to 40 pounds. Proof of up-to-date vaccinations for healthcare providers or in process of completion. 

COMPENSATION: Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. Ohio Public Employee’s Retirement System (PERS). Paid vacation, personal day, holidays, and sick leave. Tuition reimbursement is available.

SALARY: $28.04-$35.78/hr.
