Responsibilities:
1 |
Conducts interviews with parents or guardians of all children whose blood-lead levels test 5 mcg/dL or higher. |

2 |
Conducts environmental assessments of houses, schools, and daycares where clients with elevated blood-lead levels live or spend a majority of their time. Writes reports of findings of each location. |
|
3 |
Utilizes the Healthy Homes and Lead Poisoning Surveillance System (HHLPSS) to conduct case management activities. |
|
4 |
Follows up with clients to ensure environmental hazards are being mitigated safely. |
|
5 |
Provides education on Healthy Homes and lead positing prevention. Interacts with health professionals to encourage the screening of children at risk for lead poisoning prevention. |

6 |
Coordinates and/or participates in community efforts to promote Healthy Homes initiatives. Markets the HUD program through community awareness activities. |
|
7 |
Assists with the development and implementation of HUD program policies, procedures and strategies to reduce childhood lead poisoning. |
|
8 |
Prepares letters to providers and parents for children with elevated blood-lead levels as required by program guidelines. Tracks letter actions for returns and resends. |
|
9 |
Coordinates with physicians, state and local agencies, etc. as appropriate. Tracks progress of individual cases through time. |

10 |
Inspects and ensures public health code compliance of animal bite reports, nuisance and rodent control, and other health-related programs. |
|
11 |
Prepare legal correspondences to responsible parties, files affidavits for court action as required, and may appear in court to present evidence and testimony in the prosecution of violators |

12 |
Attends conferences and training seminars as required to obtain new information concerning rules, regulations, and operating procedures. |
|

Spends work-time in the field and at the office. Frequently lifts objects 30 pounds or less; frequently carries objects 30 pounds or less; occasionally pushes objects 50 pounds or less; occasionally pulls objects 50 pounds or less. |

Makes inspections and investigations in response to complaints and may recommend solutions to problems; additionally, may make recommendations for deficiency corrections and follows up to assure that corrections are made. |

15 |
Collects and/or prepares samples for laboratory analysis |
|
Other Duties & Responsibilities: |
Represents the Health Department to other partnering agencies, community organizations, and the public. Answers the phone, participates in internal and external committees, and performs other duties as assigned. |
