Position:  Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Director

Reports to:  Health Commissioner                                                   

Position to be filled: August 1, 2022

Starting Salary:  $83,194 annually

Hours:  Mon. – Fri., 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Flexible Work Arrangements: Alternate work schedule or changes in work schedule available after initial training period with approval. Core work hours of 10am to 2pm required of all staff. Remote work from home available up to two days per week with approval after the completion of a minimum of 60 days of employment.

Vaccine Policy: Effective November 1, 2021 all new hires will need to meet COVID and Influenza vaccine requirements or request an exemption as outlined in the CCBH Vaccination Policy

Minimum Requirements

  1. A master’s degree in public health, social work, psychology, business, public administration/policy, education, or related field.
  2. At least eight years of experience in a full-time position with a public health or social services agency or relevant institution, OR 10 years of experience (with a Bachelor’s degree), OR 12 years of experience (with an Associate’s degree). Experience must include responsibility for diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, and at least two years in a senior leadership level position with operational and staff accountability.
  3. Valid State of Ohio driver's license and insurance at time of appointment.
  4. Understanding of culturally specific resources available within the community.
  5. Ability to efficiently multi-task on a daily basis.
  6. Proven ability to develop and implement trainings.
  7. Expert customer service, verbal and written communication skills, and presentation skills.
  8. Expert interpersonal relationship skills including cultural sensitivity & competence.
  9. Proficiency with internal databases, online data management systems, and data collection methodology.
  10. Demonstrated understanding of cultural values and norms of various communities, particularly of communities of color, LGBTQ+ and recovery communities.

 Responsibilities:

  1. Partners with the senior leaders to develop the EDI vision and strategic plan for CCBH and ensures that CCBH’s strategic and annual plans reflect an equity awareness and focus.
  2. Collaborates with the Organizational Development and Informatics teams to develop and monitor key performance indicators.
  3. Analyze & share observations regarding CCBH programmatic practice and innovation, internal and external EDI metrics, and CCBH culture and practices; Monitors progress toward the achievement of the EDI vision & goals as well as the execution of strategies that map toward those goals.
  4. Leads CCBH’s EDI Committee in driving CCBH’s equity strategies while supporting all programs that build equity practices and culture; Provides strategic leadership in the development of culturally specific and culturally responsive policy and service delivery models.
  5. Develops, implements, and reports on the organizational equity plan in partnership with organizational stakeholders
  6. Ensures alignment among different CCBH service areas to support the unique needs and opportunities of culturally specific populations.
  7. Works closely with Organizational Development to design and implement diverse leadership recruiting and retention strategies at all levels of CCBH; Develops and delivers leadership development curricula and educational opportunities to provide career advancement pathways for under-represented employees.
  8. Examines CCBH’s policies, procedures, and practices to identify and make updates in alignment with EDI goals and strategies.
  9. Develops consistent communication and feedback mechanisms to ensure ability to identify, discuss, and address EDI issues impacting CCBH’s clients, customers, and staff.
  10. Develops communication systems to share best practices, highlight bright spots, and keep staff apprised of key EDI initiatives and activities; Partners with the Communication staff to broadly communicate CCBH’s EDI commitment, practices, accomplishments, and learnings.
  11. Oversees awareness initiatives, including affinity groups, monthly EDI newsletter, and regular workshops/presentations/seminars/celebrations regarding our diverse community.
  12. Manages and strengthens CCBH’s relationships and collaborations with external partners to deliver training and support to achieve the EDI goals of CCBH.
  13. Leads strategic engagement with the Board and serves on the Board’s EDI sub-committee.
  14. Participates public health emergency activities as needed.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.
