Position: Environmental Health Specialist OR Environmental Health Specialist-In-Training*
Program: Sewage & Water Program
Pay Grade/Salary:18*/$ 22.76; 19/$23.16                          
Shift Times: Generally scheduled during the hours of: Mon - Thurs (8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.), and Friday (8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.).  

Richland Public Health, a nationally accredited health department has a full-time career opportunity for a Registered Environmental Health Specialist or Environmental Health Specialist-in-Training in our Sewage and Water Program.

The position involves extensive on-the-job training and facets of biology, microbiology, chemistry, geology, earth science, environmental law.

General Statement of Duties:

Promotes environmental health and sanitation control through inspections and enforcement of state and local laws and regulations. Conducts planning, training sessions, and administrative tasks associated with assigned programs.

Environmental Health Specialist-In-Training* functions under the general supervision of a designated Registered Environmental Health Specialist.  May include evenings, weekends and holidays (on rare occasions).

Essential Functions:

Required education, experience, training:

Bachelor degree with at least 45 quarter units or 30 semester units of coursework in environmental health, environmental health sciences, or in the physical, chemical or biological sciences.  Must be an Ohio Registered Environmental Health Specialist or an Ohio Registered Environmental Health Specialist-in-Training.   Excellent oral, written and analytical skills along with a proficiency using MS Office. 

Additional Requirements:

Must possess current and valid Ohio driver's license, insurance and reliable transportation to carry-out professional duties.

GIS experience a plus.
