ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION

Hamilton County Public Health is accepting applications for the Director of Water Quality in the Department of Environmental Health Services. Requirements include: Bachelor’s Degree in related field and three (3) years of management experience. Ohio Registered Environmental Health Specialist and a valid driver’s license issued by the state of residency required.

Job duties included but are not limited to:

Supervises the day-to-day operations of the Water Quality Division of the General Health District (e.g., assigns and reviews work, evaluates performance, interviews job applicants and recommends for hire; recommends and administers discipline as needed; ensures staff adherence to agency policies and procedures); responsible for the inspections, enforcement, and permitting programs of sewage treatment systems, private water systems, approved final permits, and stormwater contract provisions.
Reviews and interprets rules and regulations on a state and federal level on water quality; trains new employees and provides on-going training as needed; conducts employee audits for technical and procedural compliance.
Represents agency on relevant committees (e.g., provide information to community and environmental organizations, cities, villages, townships, state and federal agencies, etc.); serves on committees as requested.
Develops sanitary surveys and issues reports regarding surface water and ground water conditions.
Prepares budget requests, and revenue and expense projections for the division; controls fiscal accounts to ensure budgetary compliance; prepares monthly reports; informs the public of agency programs and regulations; assists in developing agency procedures in accordance with overall guidelines as established by the Board of Health.
