Health Commissioner

Butler County General Health District

BUTLER COUNTY, OHIO – The Board of Health at the Butler County General Health District (BCGHD), a nationally accredited health district, begins their search for a new Health Commissioner after the retirement of Jennifer Bailer on August 31, 2021.

With the goal of naming a Health Commissioner that has prior leadership experience within a health district, the Board of Health is currently conducting a statewide search.

Dr. Michelle Burch, MD, FAAP, has been the Board of Health’s Medical Director since 2018 and currently serving as the interim Heath Commissioner for BCGHD. Dr. Burch has been a practicing pediatrician in the Cincinnati area for the last 10 years. She completed her residency training at Cincinnati Children’s hospital and upon graduation joined Pediatric Associates of Fairfield, which serves pediatric patients in Butler County and surrounding areas.

When asked about her new position, Dr. Burch says, “I am looking forward to continuing the immense efforts of former Commissioner Bailer and community partners to guide us out of this pandemic and furthering our mission to promote health and wellness to all the citizens of Butler County.”

In addition to responding to COVID-19, last month BCGHD achieved national accreditation from the Public Health Accreditation Board.

“We want to bring someone on that will lead the organizational efforts to maintain accreditation,” says Leon Simpson, long-time President of the Board of Health.

The posting for the position is available on our website at http://health.bc.ohio.us. Candidates may send resume and cover letter to BOHCommissioner@butlercountyohio.org.
