Community Health Specialist 1 or 2 – Emergency Preparedness

Delaware General Health District

The Delaware General Health District seeks a Full-time Community Health Specialist (CHS 1 or 2) – Emergency Preparedness to assist in coordination of emergency preparedness activities to ensure the agency and employees are prepared for public health disasters. Collaborate with local/regional planners to develop, assess, integrate, and test response plans, procedures, protocols, and guidelines. Evaluate current plans through drills and facilitate necessary exercises and training.  Serve as health district liaison between regional/local response agencies. Collect data and assure program quality and compliance through necessary evaluations and audits. Take responsibility for creating & updating all preparedness plans and reports. Assist in researching availability of grants and ensure grant compliance.

 Requirements:

The successful candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in public health, education, health promotion or other related field required, such as Emergency Management. Training in Incident Command Systems (ICS) and National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) preferred.

Less than one-year of relevant experience required for a CH Specialist 1 and at least one to three years of relevant work experience is required for a CH Specialist 2.
