Classified: Executive Director and at will-exempt position
Immediate supervisor: Board of Health
The Ashtabula County Health Department is seeking qualified candidates, for a Health Commissioner. A successful candidate must meet qualifications per Ohio Revised Code 3709.11. The applicant must be the holder of a master degree in public health or an equivalent master’s degree in a related field, as determined by members of the board of health, a licensed physician, licensed dentist, licensed veterinarian, licensed podiatrist or a licensed chiropractor.
The successful candidate must have a minimum of 5 years recent experience as a health commissioner or in senior management in a health district. Candidates must have substantial knowledge of local, state and federal public health laws, rules, regulations and standards. Candidates should have experience in local health department budgeting, community health assessments, strategic planning, accreditation and have a good understanding of public health nursing, environmental health and health education programs. Registered sanitarian credential is desirable.
A valid Ohio Driver’s license and successful completion of a background check is required.
