POSITION: Environmental Health Intern for Mosquito Control Program
STATUS: Temporary Status - Up to 24 hours per week (Monday-Friday) may
include evening work. Position runs from May 14^th – August 24th for a total of
16 weeks.
Pay: $10.00 to $11.00/hour
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Investigate nuisance mosquito complaints.
Educate residents of steps for mosquito abatement.
Collect mosquito larvae and/or adults for data analysis.
Assist with larvicide applications (ditches, package plants, catch-basins, etc.).
Assist with adulticide applications as needed (night spray, complaint abatement).
Execute evening adulticiding treatments as needed.
Maintain accurate records of mosquito treatment methods.
Maintain and store equipment responsibly.
Complete other mosquito control related tasks as needed.

EDUCATION:

Qualified applicants should be pursuing a bachelor’s degree or a graduate degree in public health or a related field.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a valid Ohio driver's license, in good standing.
Must be able to drive a full-size truck.
Must be a dependable individual.
Ability to read and understand written instructions and maps, ability to add and subtract whole numbers, and understand the safe handling of pesticides.
Must have an understanding of basic biology or science, and be capable of learning to respond to questions and concerns from the general public.
The Environmental Health Intern assists in the operation of Kent Mosquito Control Program and must display initiative. Must follow through on completing tasks; be reliable, mature and adaptable; relate successfully with the community and coworkers regardless of their social, ethnic, or religious status; comply with agency objectives, philosophy and policies.
