Registered Environmental Health Specialist/Environmental Health Specialist in Training
Miami County Public Health
POSITION: Classified, benefits-eligible based on hours
HOURS: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday 7:30 am – 4:00 pm; some weekend and evening hours
SALARY: Environmental Health Specialist in Training (EHSIT) $19.60-$33.73/hour
Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) $23.14-$39.84/hour
(Commensurate with experience and skills)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs inspections and related duties
- Prepare meaningful, concise, and accurate reports
- Writing, issuing, and enforcing violations in accordance with applicable laws and rules
- Resolve complaints from the general public
- Communicating effectively- written and oral
- Educating operators and the general public
- Knowledge of basic computer programs such as Word and Excel
- Participate in public health emergency response as needed
- May be required to testify in court proceedings
- May be required to respond to a complaint after regular business hours
- This position is primarily responsible for work in the Food, Pool, Body Art, and Smoke Free Workplace programs
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university which meets the educational requirements in Ohio Revised Code Section 3776.05.
- A current and valid Registered Environmental Health Specialist or Environmental Health Specialist in Training license issued by the Ohio Department of Health; or ability to become registered as a Specialist in Training.
- A valid Ohio driver’s license with own vehicle and ability to maintain a driving record that meets the insurability requirements of Miami County Public Health’s insurance provider.
