Program Manager – Disease Control and Response Unit
The Delaware Public Health District seeks a F/T Program Manager for the Disease Control and Response Unit within the Preventative Health Division. This position is responsible for programming and personnel issues, at the unit level, related to infectious disease, epidemiology, and emergency preparedness & response.
This position supervises epidemiologic investigations used in the prevention and control of communicable diseases to identify, analyze, and report public health issues. Uses data to identify trends or outbreaks of diseases or other adverse health events and recommend corrective actions or programs to alleviate adverse health effects to promote and protect public health. This position supervises emergency preparedness and regional medical reserve corps programs working to prepare for emergencies, train corps members, develop best practices, and respond during public health emergencies. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of epidemiology, communicable diseases, statistical evaluation, and emergency preparedness with the ability to apply these skills and teach others.
Requirements:
The successful candidate must be able to communicate professionally and effectively both orally and in writing. Bachelor's degree in field of public health, health or business/public administration, preventative medicine, social work, nursing, environmental health, public policy or other health-related field required. Three to five years’ relevant experience required. One-year supervisory experience preferred. Master’s degree in public health, nursing, or similar field preferred. Possession of a valid driver’s license and current auto liability insurance.
