Environmental Health Specialist / Specialist in Training

Highland County Health Department

The Highland County Health Department is seeking an Environmental Health Specialist. This position will report to the Director of Environmental Health.

This position’s duties will include:

• Inspection of household sewage systems, private water systems, and food facilities
• Investigation of public health nuisances and animal bites
• Generation and submittal of reports and inspection documents
• Support for other EH programs as needed
• Performing other duties as assigned

This is a full-time (38 hours per week) hourly position at $16.50-$17.00/hour with a competitive compensation package.  Pay is commensurate with education and experience. 

Minimum applicant qualification/skills:

• Has a current Ohio Registered Sanitarian/Sanitarian-In-Training license or is immediately eligible for SIT/RS status in Ohio
• Ability to lift 75 lbs.
• Maintain a valid Ohio driver’s license, insurance, and reliable daily transportation
• Willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Possess excellent communication, organizational and computer skills.
