Contact Tracer
The Galion City Health Department has received funding from the Ohio Department of Health to implement contact tracing and mitigate the potential of a COVID-19 outbreak. The Galion City Health Department is seeking a Contact Tracer Intern/ Independent Contractor to work through January 31, 2020; with the potential to extend.
Position Summary:
The Candidate will work with GCHD Staff to conduct contact tracing which may include, but is not limited to:
- Interviews persons who have been reported to have COVID-19 to elicit relevant health and close contact information. Daily required follow-up with cases to ensure they are isolating and obtain needed information.
- Notify exposed individuals (contacts) of their potential exposure as rapidly and sensitively as possible.
- Educates on COVID-19 isolation and self-quarantine practices.
- Check in with contacts to ensure they are self-quarantining, self-monitoring, and have not developed symptoms.
- Maintains records on all delinquent and/or non-conforming patients.
- Maintain data in Contact Tracing software or GCHD provided template
- Performs a variety of duties relating to the preparation of reports, entering personal data on patient registers and preparing correspondence, as needed.
- Protect patient privacy.
- Utilize excellent and sensitive interpersonal, cultural sensitivity, and interviewing skills such that you build and maintain trust with patients and contacts as you work with a patient to help them recall everyone with whom they have had close contact during the timeframe while they may have been infectious.
- Utilizes appropriate methods for interacting effectively and professionally with persons of all ages and from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, lifestyles and physical abilities.
Minimal Qualifications:
- Individual at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma (or equivalent). Those with, or pursuing, an Associate degree or a Bachelor of Science degree in a healthcare field are preferred.
- Those with an Associate degree or a Bachelor of Science degree in a healthcare field are preferred.
- Must be dependable, organized, possess excellent communication skills, and able to work independently.
- Must be proficient Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
- Must have a valid Driver’s License, transportation, and auto insurance.
Other:
- This is a grant funded contract for, with potential for extension.
Benefits:
- This is a contract position and is ineligible for benefits.
