Director of Nursing Wyandot County Public Health Position Description Hours: Full-time position averaging 40 hours per week;
Office hours: 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday, with some morning, evening, and weekend hours as needed for program requirements, community meetings, and in times of public health emergency.
Salary Range: $35-$45/hour (with BSN)
Responsibilities: The Director of Nursing of Wyandot Public Health reports to the Administrator of Wyandot County Public Health. Develops, plans, and coordinates major public health nursing programs, independently monitors program activities, develops, and implements nursing program policies and procedures with administrative approval, arranges nursing contract services, determines program and client needs and formulates services/activities to meet needs, evaluates program effectiveness, and participates in program activities.
The Director of Nursing oversees 10+ staff members. Successful candidates will have a passion for public health programs and a desire to see nursing division activities improve and thrive.
Under the direction of the Administrator/ the Health Commissioner, and in collaboration with the Fiscal Officer and Medical Director the Director of Nursing shall:
• Ensure compliance with applicable Board of Nursing laws.
• Develop and implement new rules and policies associated with nursing laws.
• Assure that Wyandot County Public Health meets State standards required by oversight of mandated nursing programs.
• Manage and direct all staff assigned to the nursing department.
• Provide in-service education to health department employees, other public agencies, and other health related facilities, and various community groups as needed.
• Manage writing nursing department grants and submitting them by date due. May appoint/delegate aid in grant preparation, needs assessments, or other grant related matters.
• Manage nursing department performance related to grant goals and objectives and submitting reports to Ohio Department of Health according to grant reporting schedule.
• Utilize performance management processes & techniques to improve effectiveness of programs.
• Represent Wyandot County Public Health at outside committees as needed. Qualifications: The candidate must be a Registered Nurse with active licensure in the State of Ohio and have current basic life support BLS training. BSN, leadership and grant writing experience preferred. The candidate must have basic computer skills using Microsoft Office package, as well as charting computer programs. A valid Ohio driver's license, reliable transportation, proof of automobile insurance, and good driving record are required. Successful candidates will be subject to pre-employment drug screening and background checks.
