ARRA Funds Benefit Ohio Home Septic Systems – from ODH
In late February, it was announced that Ohio had received more than $3.3 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency’s Water Pollution Control Loan Fund (WPCLF) to repair and replace failing sewage systems. Through the efforts of ODH, LHDs, county commissioners, and the Ohio EPA, ARRA funds have directly assisted nearly 500 homeowners in Ohio, and have provided sustainable work for a substantial number of small businesses in 42 counties and two cities.
U.S. EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson, who was recently in town to help announce various ARRA-funded environmental projects, lauded Ohio for work in the area of septic systems and called us a model for the entire country.
ODH would like to thank the LHDs that assisted with project implementation in their respective localities. They played an integral role in helping Ohio develop a national reputation as a leader in this area. For more information on projects in your county, you can access a joint ODH/EPA news release here.
