Position Summary: |
Provide important environmental health services to promote public health throughout Stark County. Plan, develop, implement and evaluate environmental health programs and projects to ensure all health and sanitation laws and regulations are met. Use knowledge and skills to prevent, detect and solve problems that can potentially affect the health of the entire community. |

Other Duties & Responsibilities: |
Ability to work with the public and promote environmental health regulations within the community and industry; recognize deficiencies in environmental health laws and cite on an inspection form and follow-up individual orders for compliance. Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends. Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Must be in good standing and follow the Laws and Rules Regulating the Practice of Environmental Health Chapter 4736 of the Ohio Revised Code and Chapters 4736-1 to 4736-16 of the Ohio Administrative Code. |

Prerequisite Experience:
Key Competencies: |
Knowledge of local and state laws and regulations on commercial water well, school building inspection, food safety and sanitation, Critical Control Point and Process Review Inspections, foodborne illness investigation and State of Ohio Uniform Food Safety Code. Skills in public relations; preparing and delivering speeches before specialized audiences and the general public; and excellent written and oral communication required.

Work Environment: |
General work setting in health department facilities and the community. Work performed in the community may subject some positions to adverse weather conditions and challenging interaction with off-site locations and community members. Some travel may be required; reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and current auto insurance are a requirement. |
