RS/SIT - Private Water/Sewage Program

ASHLAND COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT

Full-Time (35 Hours/Week) * Pay Commensurate with Experience

Applicant must have a current certificate of registration as a Registered Sanitarian (RS) or Sanitarian In Training (SIT) issued by the Ohio State Board of Sanitarian Registration or ability to obtain SIT status immediately with RS status within 3 years.  Position requires a valid Ohio Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance.  This position is a full-time, 35 hour per week position with some evenings/weekends necessary.   Excellent Benefits. Duties will be focused within the private water  household sewage treatment programs (including consultations, inspections, EPA HSTS funding, O&M implementation), may include assistance in the areas of food protection, public swimming pools and spas, nuisances, recreational parks, rabies, schools, tattoos, vectors, and solid waste.

Other duties may include:

• Prepares reports which determine compliance with state and local codes and regulations
• Collects field samples for applicable programs
• Conducts complaint investigations for various EH programs, including foodborne illness
• Maintains accurate files, data processing and other office records; May assist in preparation of legal or administrative documents
• Works with various state, county, and municipal governments and community groups to promote improved environmental health practices; Conducts educational presentations and trainings to the community
• May be required to play an active role in the event of a public health emergency, which may include changes in responsibilities and working hours
• Participate in Quality Improvement and Accreditation initiatives
