The Ashland County-City Health Department has the following openings:
Full-Time Registered Sanitarian or Sanitarian in Training -
Applicant must have a current certificate of registration as a Registered Sanitarian (RS) or Sanitarian in Training (SIT) issued by the Ohio State Board of Sanitarian Registration or ability to obtain SIT status immediately with RS status within 3 years. Position requires a valid Ohio Driver's License, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance. This position is a full-time, 35 hours per week position with some evenings/weekends as necessary. Excellent Benefits. Compensation commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Conducts inspections in the following programs: Food Protection, Schools, Campgrounds, Pools/Spas, Private Water, Private Sewer and other public or semi-public facilities; Prepares reports which determine compliance with state and local codes and regulations.
- Collects field samples for applicable programs.
- Conducts complaint investigations for various EH programs, including food-borne illness
- Maintains accurate files, data processing and other office records; May assist in preparation of legal or administrative documents.
- Works with various state, county, and municipal governments and community groups to promote improved environmental health practices; Conducts educational presentations and trainings to the community.
- May be required to play an active role in the event of a public health emergency, which may include changes in responsibilities and working hours.
