Starting Salary: C38/ $18.80 - $25.86/hour
C42/ $20.73 - $28.52/hour
Minimum Qualifications for Communicable Disease Investigator I:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Physiology, Biology, Sociology or other related social services field
- Ability to gain certification of venipuncture training by the American Red Cross or other qualified training facility within 12 months of hire
- Current valid Ohio driver’s license & access to a motor vehicle
Minimum Qualifications for Communicable Disease Investigator II:
- 3 Years of experience as Communicable Disease Investigator I
- A Bachelor’s degree in Physiology, Biology, Sociology or other related social services field
- Ability to gain certification of venipuncture training by the American Red Cross or other qualified training facility within 12 months of hire
- Current valid Ohio driver’s license & access to a motor vehicle
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Investigating sexually transmitted disease (STD) reports, and case work, including:
- Conducting HIV related interviews and disease intervention counseling with diverse high-risk populations
- Performing finger sticks/venipuncture for disease testing and transporting specimens to testing facility
- Providing educational, and risk reduction behavioral information
- Eliciting contact information for active disease intervention or sex partner notification
- Coordinating disease intervention activities and advising local health departments and other health care agencies when appropriate to assure optimum disease intervention
- Complies with current rules, regulations, and guidelines of State Health Department’s STD/HIV Prevention Unit
- May assist in training new or less experienced staff members in quality disease intervention activity
- May be required to play an active role in the event of a public health emergency, which may include changes in responsibilities and working hours
