Public Health Nurse

Cuyahoga County Board of Health

Salary:  $45,903.00 annually                                                                

Hours:  Mon. – Fri., 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (2 evenings a month until 7pm), 37.5 hours per week

Responsibilities: May include but not limited to:

  1. Administer childhood, adolescent and adult vaccinations throughout Cuyahoga County.
  2. Counsel patients and families on immunization schedule, individual vaccines, indications and precautions.
  3. Follow Centers for Disease Control/Advisory Committee on Immunization Practice guidelines and Ohio Dept. of Health protocols.
  4. Perform pediatric lead screening as needed.
  5. Maintain accurate records and submission of required documentation.
  6. Educate families regarding programs offered in Prevention & Wellness Services.
  7. Coordinate and document referrals to the appropriate resources.
  8. Assist with Family Planning Clinic as needed.
  9. Perform other duties as requested by Supervisor or Service Area Director/Deputy Director.
  10. Participate as needed or requested in the event of any public health emergency.

Minimum Requirements: 

  1. Must be licensed registered nurse pursuant to Section 4723.13 of the Ohio Revised Code 
  2. A valid Ohio driver's license with ongoing proof of auto insurance 
  3. Current CPR certification
  4. Ability to effectively function as a member of an interdisciplinary service team
  5. Effective written and oral communication skills.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
