WIC Dietitian
Medina County Health Department
Employment Status: Non-Exempt, Full time (40 hrs/wk)
Wage: Hourly, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
General Qualifications (including but not limited to):
Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. Certification as a Registered Dietitian and licensure with the Ohio Board of Dietetics. Valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of insurance. Successfully pass a B.C.I background check. Essential Functions of the Position include but are not limited to:
- Collect and accesses results of anthropometric measurements including height, weight and hemoglobin
- Nutrition assessment based on health history and anthropometric measurements to determine nutrition risk factor for eligibility for WIC benefits. Provides participant based nutrition counseling/education tailored to the applicant’s dominate risk factor
- Identifies high risk nutrition risk factors. Counsels, refers and schedules participants determined to be high risk appropriately based on WIC policy
- Prescribes appropriate WIC tailored food package and responsible for all food package changes
- Explains rights and responsibilities with regard to participation in the WIC program
- Breastfeeding education and support
- Community agency and health professional referrals
- Development and implementation of education and outreach programs
- Presents nutrition education classes
- Travel to outreach clinics and community events to perform WIC related activities
