COVID-19 Contact Tracer

Help track down where COVID-19 is spreading. This temporary position is your opportunity to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Working with the Ohio Department of Health, this “disease detective” will gather critical information from Ohio residents diagnosed with COVID-19 by identifying their
contacts and calling every contact who lives in Ohio. Now more than ever, the State needs people who can make a difference. Ohio needs you!

The Opportunity:
The Contact Tracer will:
• Call contacts of newly diagnosed cases
• Communicate with contacts in a professional and empathetic manner
• Collect and record information on symptoms into a database
• Provide contacts with approved information about Ohio quarantine procedures, and if appropriate, refer them to testing according to protocol
• Follow a script to inform contacts about the importance of quarantine and what to do if symptoms develop
• Use a telephone, computer and electronic equipment to capture data
• Maintain daily contact with supervisor

• Proficiency with computers

Qualifications:
• 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in office practices & procedures
• 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in public relations or customer service that included techniques for handling difficult people
• 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in typing, keyboarding, data entry or word processing
• 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in operation of personal computer
Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in public health, medical or related field
• Interviewing technique skills

Ohio resident preferred and familiarity with Ohio geography, specifically cities/towns/villages required.

Location:
This job will be performed mostly remotely - teleworking from your residence. There may be a need to travel occasionally to conduct in-person interviews.

Project Duration: 12-18 months (estimate)
